Custom B2B Catalogue for Merkator International

Custom B2B Catalogue for Merkator International

After more than three decades as Montenegro’s leading print-and-signage house, Merkator International wanted to give its industrial customers a buying experience as modern as its Heidelberg presses. What began as a casual conversation about “putting the price list online” quickly turned into a full-scale digital transformation—and a story of how a family firm founded in 1991 leapt into real-time, self-service ordering.

About The Customer

Merkator International operates out of 2 000 m² of production space in Bijelo Polje, runs retail shops in Podgorica, and employs roughly sixty specialists across offset printing, label production and large-format advertising. ISO-9001 certification, EU-backed green-label projects and a catalogue that spans everything from magazines to LED signage have cemented its reputation as the country’s one-stop graphics powerhouse.

Business Need

Until 2024, Merkator’s B2B sales flowed through PDFs, phone calls and the occasional spreadsheet. Prices changed often, volume discounts were negotiated manually, and sales reps spent hours confirming stock for more than 500 SKUs. The firm needed:

  • A single, always-up-to-date product catalogue—searchable in seconds
  • Customer-specific pricing and discount logic
  • Self-service ordering that landed straight inside their new in-house ERP
  • Zero extra workload for the print floor team

Our Solution

Prome Solutions built a custom B2B catalogue platform tightly integrated with the ERP we had already delivered:

  1. Headless architecture for speed and scalability.
  2. Real-time search & filters—clients can find any label, poster size or paper stock in milliseconds.
  3. Role-based pricing engine—Merkator sales staff create customer groups and set per-item or tiered discounts without writing a line of code.
  4. Smart basket & order flow—multi-item carts convert into ERP work orders, complete with print specs and shipping data.
  5. Automated PDFs & Proofs—the system generates order confirmations and artwork proofs on the fly, trimming e-mail back-and-forth.

Result

First 30 days: 70 % of key accounts adopted the portal; average order entry time fell from 15 minutes to 2.

Pricing accuracy: zero discount errors since launch.

Sales bandwidth: reps now focus on upselling large-format jobs instead of re-typing SKU codes.

Scalability: the catalogue holds 500+ products today and can grow past 5 000 without performance loss.
